Ohara Davies-Gaetano specializes in soulful, richly layered interiors attuned to the rhythms and rituals of her clients’ lives—interiors that gather strength and beauty from a wide array of cultural allusions, aesthetic genealogies, and craft traditions. Rejecting a signature style or a cut-and-paste approach to design, she creates rooms that develop organically in response to their specific architectural context, landscape, and the individual spirit of the people who inhabit them. Eminently comfortable and inviting, her interiors engage the eye as well as the mind, marrying style and substance in the service of gracious, glorious living.
Ohara was born and raised in New York City in a family of artists and designers who stressed the supreme importance of creative expression. Travel and hands-on experience formed the bedrock of her education. She honed her craft from the ground up, fabricating adobe bricks in Mexico, weaving textiles in Guatemala, and restoring centuries-old stone buildings in Italy. She brings her broad expertise to bear on all her work, orchestrating the talents of exceptional artisans, craftspeople, and fellow designers to generate a unique ethos and narrative for every client and every project. One of the hallmarks of her practice is the curation and placement of fine art, a passion she has nurtured her entire life.
Established in Los Angeles in 2009, Ohara Davies-Gaetano provides comprehensive residential design services for clients across the globe, with studios in LA, NY, and satellite offices in Palm Beach and Montana. The firm handles projects of every type and scale, from a vineyard estate in Sonoma to an 800-acre cattle ranch outside Dallas to a Mediterranean villa in Florida to an oceanfront estate in the Caribbean. Ohara’s designs have been featured in a host of international design journals, including Architectural Digest, Elle Décor, and House Beautiful.
